Arlington man arrested for Columbia Pike fire, pushing infant toward fire

An Arlington man has been arrested for starting the fire at a high rise apartment on Columbia Pike on Saturday.
Demetrius Taylor lit a floor mat on fire, physically assaulted a woman and pushed an infant in a stroller toward the fire at about 11:15 a.m., according to officials.
Police say Taylor fled the apartment before police arrived, but the victim was able to escape the fire with the baby.
Taylor was taken into custody without incident, but while being interviewed, he kicked through a wall and spat at and threatened the officers, according to authorities.
The 27-year-old was charged with arson, child endangerment, destruction of property, and assault on law enforcement.
