Areas north and west of DC under winter weather advisory late Sunday

- While snow isn't on many people's minds heading into April, forecasts show a winter weather storm is heading through the D.C. area Sunday night. Some areas north and west of the District under a winter storm watch or a winter weather advisory late Sunday.

Northwest Howard, Northwest Montgomery, Frederick, Carroll, Northern Baltimore, Northwest and Southeast Harford Counties are all under the Winter Weather Advisory from midnight Sunday to 11 a.m. Monday.

In Virginia, Clarke and Western Loudoun Counties are also under a Winter Weather Advisory from 2 a.m. Monday through 11 a.m.

The National Weather Service says precipitation will start as rain Sunday night before changing to snow early Monday morning. They say most of the snow will be on grassy surfaces, but if the snow fall becomes moderate to heavy, road surfaces may become snow covered.
