Alexandria woman struck and killed by truck while getting the mail identified

A woman who was struck and killed by a truck while she was getting her mail in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County on Tuesday has been identified by officials.

Fairfax County police said 46-year-old Glenda Quiroz was standing at her mailbox in the 7000 block of Beulah Street when she was hit by a pick-up truck at about 2:45 p.m.

Investigators said a 2013 Nissan Frontier pick-up truck was heading southbound from the Franconia-Springfield Parkway when the driver had a medical emergency and veered off the road.

As the driver swerved back toward the street, the truck hit Quiroz before stopping a short distance down the road, according to officials.

Quiroz was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information that could aid detectives in their investigation was urged to call (703) 280-0543. Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
