2 masked suspects rob elderly couple in Rockville home invasion

- Montgomery County police are looking for two suspects who tied up and robbed an elderly couple in their own home Wednesday afternoon.

The victims told police the suspects were armed with guns and were wearing masks.

Police said they received a call at around 1:22 p.m. about the home invasion robbery on Arlive Court in Rockville. The victims inside the home were a 77-year-old man and his 86-year-old wife.

According to the couple’s son, the suspects knocked on his parents’ door claiming to be electricians. When his father answered, two masked men armed with handguns forced their way inside and ransacked the house.

“They were apparently looking for Oxycontin, money and jewelry,” said the victims’ son said. “My dad was knocked on the ground and he was tied up apparently with a cable from the fax machine.”

The victims were seriously hurt, but are shaken. They were able to call 911 after the men took off on foot.

Police and K-9 units combed the neighborhood for evidence while detectives interviewed possible witnesses.

“Detectives will look at all possibilities why that home may have been chosen, if a reason why that home was chosen,” said Montgomery County Police Cpl. Rebecca Innocenti.

It turns out two men matching the suspects’ description knocked on a neighbor’s door before targeting the elderly couple. That man refused to open the door for them.

The men were not wearing masks at that point. He said they claimed to be with a plumbing company, but did not appear to have a vehicle.

The man described the men he saw as “young, maybe early 20s, African American male, maybe 6’ tall, thin to average build. The person who was walking with him, I didn’t see his face, but just from the back he looked shorter, maybe three to four inches shorter, and a little bit more heavily built.”

Montgomery County police said they want to hear from anyone who may have seen the suspects or who has information that could help in this investigation.
