ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Be careful about what you post on Facebook. A Maryland man is learning this the hard way as it got him in trouble with the law.
Last Friday, Sean Kovalick Jr. posted on his Facebook page that he had crashed a party in Glen Burnie.
“Lol currently crashing some part at Michaels 8th avenue. Don’t know anybody here or why they are even here but the beer and food is free lol hopefully nobody asks me why I’m here.”
His post received several likes and one commenter even called him “nuts.” Kovalick responded to his post saying he thought it was a politician’s fundraiser.
However, he assumed wrong. It was actually a fundraiser for Anne Arundel County Sheriff Ron Bateman.
The following day, Sheriff Bateman sent Kovalick a Facebook reply saying:
“That was a bad play for you, Mr. Kovalick, last night at Michael’s 8th Avenue. Thanks for posting your confession. This is Sheriff Ron Bateman and that was MY fundraiser that you stole from. I will stop by your house in the next day or two. See you soon.”
Unfortunately for Kovalick, he had a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in traffic court back on Jan. 15. Kovalick agreed to meet with the sheriff and he was then arrested for the outstanding warrant.
The sheriff's office noted when Bateman placed Kovalick in handcuffs, Kovalick stated that had no excuses for his behavior.
