WASHINGTON - A D.C. fire lieutenant has been placed on administrative leave after he was indicted on a charge of receiving child pornography.
Lt. Earl Walker was arrested Friday morning and appeared in federal court in the afternoon.
According to the magistrate judge who presided over the hearing, a warrant was issued for Walker’s arrest after he was indicted by a grand jury in Pennsylvania.
The 21-year veteran of the department who is assigned to Engine 22 on Georgia Avenue in Northwest D.C. said nothing other than acknowledging the judge and the charge against him.
Walker’s attorney said in court that the charge against the lieutenant does not carry a mandatory minimum sentence if convicted and asked that he be released on his own recognizance.
Lt. Walker's attorney declined to comment as he left the courtroom.
