Metro service suspended this weekend due to impending winter storm

- Metro announced service will be suspended this weekend due to the potential blizzard that will impact the D.C. region this weekend.

Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. Friday and will close later in the day at 11 p.m. Metro will remain closed for Saturday and Sunday. Metro said it will store railcars inside the tunnels to protect them during the storm.

Metrobus service will operate on a “severe” snow weather plan on Friday. Under the plan, buses will only operate on major corridors. Bus service will be suspended starting at 5 p.m. Friday and will be out of service for the weekend.

MetroAccess service will be stopped after 6 p.m. Friday and no new outbound trips will be started after 1 p.m.
