Police make third arrest in Md. gang murder

- A third suspect has been arrested in connection with a murder that is believed to be related to MS-13 gang activity, according to Montgomery County police.

Leonardo C Siguenza-Neiros, 20, was arrested Jan. 11 in Lewisville, Texas. Investigators believe he fled Maryland to avoid arrest. Siguenza-Neiros, who faces a first-degree murder charge, is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.

Two suspects were previously charged with murder in the case, including a 15-year-old.

Montgomery County police said 18-year-old Denis Vitalino Montufar-Bautista’s body was found Dec. 22 in the area of the Northwest Branch Park in Silver Spring. He died of multiple injuries.

Montufar-Bautista’s body was discovered in an area known to be frequented by MS-13 gang members, according to police.

The murder was one of at least seven in the D.C. region recently tied to MS-13.
