7 schools given 'all clear' after Prince William Co. shooting

Authorities gave the all clear at seven Prince William County schools Tuesday afternoon after they were put on a precautionary 'secure the building' status because of a shooting nearby.

Police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 14300 block of Wrangler Lane in Woodbridge late Tuesday morning. Police say two men went into an apartment and assaulted a man before shooting another man after they left the unit. Both victims are expected to recover.

While the shooting was not connected to any schools, access to seven schools was temporarily restricted because two people involved in the shooting got away. Parents received several text messages from the school system as the situation unfolded. Schools were given the all clear around 1 p.m.

Police are continuing to search for the two suspects. They say this was not a random crime.
