Crowd concerns for Chuck Brown event

- WASHINGTON -- Some D.C. residents are concerned that a birthday celebration for the late Chuck Brown will bring too many people to their neighborhood.

On Saturday, August 22, Chuck Brown Memorial Park in Northeast will be the site of the free celebration, which thousands of people are expected to attend.

"I just don't know how people would get here. We're not close to the Metro. Will they be walking? Where will they park? In our driveway. Hopefully not," said neighbor Katie Ford.

Chuck Brown Day will include several entertainment acts from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will conclude with a performance from the Chuck Brown Band.

D.C.'s Department of Parks and Recreation said they have been meeting with neighbors and celebration organizers.

They told FOX 5 that neighbors and attendees should be assured there will be adequate police coverage and city services, such as traffic enforcement and trash collection.
