65-year-old Prince George's County man with dementia missing in Beltsville

A man suffering from dementia is missing in Prince George's County as frigid temperatures sweep through the region.

Prince George's County police said 65-year-old Daniel Dehaven was reportedly last seen on store surveillance video in the 10900 block of Baltimore Avenue on Tuesday at about 11:30 a.m.

Dehaven's family said he suffers from dementia and is non-verbal.

Authorities said officers, detectives, K-9 units and helicopters searched for him throughout the night but could not locate him. Officials received a tip that Dehaven may have been spotted in downtown Silver Spring but they could not find him.

Police were urging residents and businesses to be on the lookout for Dehaven, who was described as white male, standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds.

Anyone with information that could help detectives find Dehaven was urged to call the Prince George's County Police Department's Regional Investigation Division - Northern Region at (301) 699-2601.

Officials also wanted to remind the community to check on elderly neighbors and take extra precautions with anyone who may require extra attention, such as making sure they have identification on them, as freezing temperatures continue into the winter.
