CRASH Team Investigates Anne Arundel County Fatal Crash

- The Maryland State Police CRASH Team is investigating a fatal crash in Anne Arundel County.

The victim has been identified as Miriam Barnshaw, 65, of Centreville, Maryland. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

Miriam's son, Brian Barnshaw, 40, also of Centreville was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash and was taken to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment.

A preliminary investigation revealed that shortly before 8:30 a.m. Sunday, the Barnshaws were in their Chevy Malibu, traveling west on I-695 before exiting onto northbound 295.

Their vehicle entered the merge area of I-295 when Brian lost control of the vehicle and skidded perpendicular onto the northbound lanes. They were then struck by a commuter bus with 18 on board traveling in the fast lane.

All 18 passengers aboard the commuter bus were safely off loaded onto another commuter bus from the same company and transported to their destination. There were no reported injuries.

Witnesses of the crash are asked to call state police at 410-761-5130.
