Inmates stabbed in fight inside DC Jail

Authorities said five people were injured after a fight inside D.C. Jail Thursday night.

According to a spokesperson for the jail, there was a fight inside an inmate housing unit at around 8:30 p.m. involving five inmates.

The inmates suffered some lacerations and puncture wounds from homemade weapons and shanks.

D.C. Fire and EMS said they treated three of the victims, with two suffering serious injuries. They were initially treated by the on-site jail physician before being transported to the hospital.

The D.C. Department of Corrections is conducting an investigation of the fight.
