4 California men face riot charges in Charlottesville

- Four California men are facing federal charges in connection with the so-called “Unite the Right” rally that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia that led to the death of at least one anti-fascist activist.

The U.S. Attorney’s office said Benjamin Drake Daley, 25, Thomas Walter Gillen, 34, Michael Paul Miselis, 29, and Cole Evan White, 24, engaged in “violent behavior” during the incident.

Prosecutors charged the four men – who allegedly belong to the white supremacist Rise Above Movement – with violating the federal riot statute and conspiracy.

Officials said Daley, Gillen, Miselis, and White were involved in “multiple acts of violence” during the August 2017 rally, some of which resulted in serious injuries to counter protesters.
