Surveillance video released of suspect wanted in attempted sexual assault at DC hotel

- D.C. police have released surveillance video of a suspect who attempted to sexually assault a female employee at knifepoint at a downtown D.C. hotel.

According to the police report, the victim said the male suspect placed a knife to her throat and forced her to undress inside a room on the 11th floor of the Grand Hyatt Washington hotel in Northwest D.C. at around 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

"This is a stranger-on-stranger case,” said D.C. Police Capt. Chanel Dickerson. “It was a brazen attack. The suspect entered through a side door of the hotel that was not shut properly and made his way to the guest floors inside of the hotel, pushed his way inside of a hotel room and attempted to sexually assault the victim.”

The victim said the two had a violent struggle after the suspect took off his pants. During the struggle, the suspect grabbed her hair so viciously that it was pulled off the scalp. However, the woman was then able to escape the room and notify authorities.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 21 to 25 years old, 5’1” to 5’6” tall with a medium build, light complexion and black hair. He was wearing a blue jacket, dark-colored pants and white or grey shoes.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and indictment in this case. Anyone with tips is asked to call D.C. police at 202-727-9099 or text the Department's TEXT TIP LINE to 50411.
