JESSUP, Md. - Two pedestrians were killed when they were hit by a car late Saturday night in Jessup, Md., and police need the public's help in identifying one of the victims. Howard County police say the two people who were struck were involved in a fight that carried over into the street, where they were hit by a passing car.
The accident happened just after 11 pm on Washington Boulevard (Route 1) near Port Capital Drive. The driver of a 2002 Honda Civic struck both people, who were in the roadway. Witnesses told police the victims were involved in an altercation. The driver and a passenger in the car were not hurt, and no charges have been filed.
Both victims were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where they later died. One of the victims was identified as 18-year-old Deley Martinez Hernandez of Elkridge, but the second victim was not carrying identification at the time of the accident.
Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the second victim so that they can contact her family. Investigators said the victim is a black transgender woman in her early to mid 20s with shoulder-length black hair and a wrist tattoo that says "Sina." Police believe she may be from the Philadelphia area.
