REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) — Authorities say a woman has been arrested after walking topless through downtown Rehoboth Beach, prompting parents to cover their children's eyes.
Rehoboth Beach Police Department spokesman Lt. Jaime Riddle says 37-year-old Jennie Lee D. Martin, of Chevy Chase, Maryland, put her shirt back on at an officer's request Saturday night but refused to let police put her in handcuffs, insisting that police show her what law she was breaking.
Officers say that before they arrived, Martin spat on a man who asked her to put her shirt on after he saw families covering their children's eyes.
Police say Martin smelled of alcohol and officers had to forcefully put her in handcuffs.
She faces multiple misdemeanor charges, including first-degree indecent exposure and resisting arrest. It's unclear whether she has an attorney.
