Suspect shot by police after hitting officer with vehicle during traffic stop dies

Arlington County police say a driver who was shot in a police-involved shooting during a traffic stop near Interstate 395 has died. Two officers were injured during the incident that happened Wednesday around 4:30 p.m.

Police say the driver struck the officer with their vehicle, an SUV, as the officer approached to make the stop on the Glebe Road ramp to Interstate 395. Police fired at the vehicle and wounded the driver who they say had trapped an officer with the vehicle.

Police say the driver was transported to a local hospital where he later died. One officer was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and another was treated at the scene by medics.

On Thursday, police said the driver who was shot and killed was identified as Daniel George Boak, 28, of Centreville, Va.
