Police say NE sex assault cases may be related

- Police are investigating two sex assault cases in northeast D.C. that they say may be related.

The first happened on Tuesday, July 28 at around 10:45 p.m. in the Unit Block of Riggs Road. The second happened on Friday, August 28 around 12:08 a.m. in the 1500 block of Michigan Avenue.

Investigators say both cases involved a black male, in his 20s to 30s, with a medium to dark complexion, 6’ to 6’2” in height, with facial hair.

The victims in both cases tell police that the suspect was armed with a knife and that he fled the scene on a dark colored bicycle.

Police say in one case the victim was robbed and that both victims had exited Metro stations at Fort Totten and Brookland/CUA prior to the assaults.
