Flower delivery man charged with burglary

- Montgomery County police have charged a flower delivery man for burglarizing a home while he was on the job.

Police said 48-year-old Anthony Dwight Reeves was making a flower delivery on March 26 at around 1:25 p.m. at a home in the 3300 block of University Boulevard West in Kensington. After there was no answer at the door, Reeves went inside the house and stole a credit card and other property.

According to police, the Gaithersburg man used that credit card in a Macy’s store at Westfield Wheaton Mall and at a Lord and Taylor store in Lakeforest Mall to purchase clothes and other items that totaled over $1,000.

Investigators discovered Reeves was the person assigned to make the delivery at the victim's home after contacting the flower delivery company. Reeves was also seen on surveillance video near the victim's home and from store cameras where the victim's credit card was used.

Reeves was arrested on Monday and has been charged with first-degree burglary, theft less than $1,000, and multiple credit card offenses.

Police believe Reeves may be responsible for other home burglaries in Montgomery County where he delivered flowers. A search warrant served at Reeves' Gaithersburg home found stolen property believed to be stolen from other burglaries.

Reeves was released on $5,000 bond.
