- A car driven by an elderly man crashed into a Giant Food store in the Leisure World Plaza shopping center in Silver Spring Thursday afternoon.

According to fire officials, an 88-year-old man operating a 2002 Buick Century struck the building near the front entrance at around 2:55 p.m. An 84-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

No pedestrians, customers or employees were struck in the crash.
