MANASSAS, Va. - A fundraiser was held Saturday to raise money to help two wounded Prince William County police officers who were shot in Woodbridge last weekend.
Officer Jesse Hempen, 31, an eight-year veteran of the department, and Officer David McKeown, 33, a 10-year veteran were shot while they were responding to a domestic violence call in Woodbridge last Saturday night. Rookie Officer Ashley Guindon, who was working her first shift as a police officer, was killed, along with Crystal Hamilton, the wife of the suspect.
The Old Towne Sports Pub in Manassas was host to Public Safety Appreciation Day, and a portion of the proceeds were being given to the Prince William County Injured Officers Fund. The event will continue until the pub closes at 2 a.m., and $9 will get you a BBQ plate for this very worthy cause.
Just Friday, the Prince William County Police Department tweeted that Officer Hempen and Officer McKeown are recovering well, and that their families have asked for privacy but appreciate the support that has been sent their way.
