Letter from 'doggie heaven' helps family heal after losing beloved pet

A kind gesture from the mailman touched the heart of a Virginia family mourning the death of their pet dog.

3-year-old Luke Westbrook and his family lost their beagle Moe in April.

Since then Luke, and his mother Mary, have sent several letters to Moe -- mom writes down what Luke wants to say.

The letters, said Mary online at DistinctionHR.com, are addressed to 'Moe Westbrook, Doggie Heaven, Cloud 1.' She said she takes them to the mailbox and picks them up before the mailman comes.

Well, one day Mary forgot to take out a letter before the mail was collected. When she later looked in the mailbox, the letter was gone -- tossed away, she assumed.

However, a few days later, the Westbrook family received a reply to that unstamped note they wrote to Moe.

It read: "I'm in doggie heaven. I play all day. I am happy. Thank you 4 being my friend. I wuv you Luke."

Luke may not yet realize what the letter means to the Westbrook family -- but mom sure does.
