Is Black Friday dead?

Black Friday may be losing its appeal as more and more retailers are kicking off sales well before Thanksgiving.

Now that Walmart announced it won't be doing any door busters this year, many are left wondering if the unofficial holiday is dead.

According to the National Retail Federation, more than half of consumers say they're relying less on going out on Black Friday to get deals.

Walmart already started rolling back prices and other retailers like Target and Best Buy are doing the same.

On black Friday, Walmart will offer 95 percent of its sales online.

Wallet Hub took a look at which retailers offer the deepest discounts on the biggest shopping day of the year and says J.C. Penney came out on top with a 68-percent average discount.

Kohl's was close behind followed by Groupon, Macy's, and K-Mart.
