Hospital renames emergency room after Pope Francis

A hospital emergency room in northeast D.C. will be renamed after Pope Francis. Providence Hospital will rename their emergency department the Pope Francis Emergency Care Center.

D.C.'s Mayor Muriel Bowser will speak at a ceremony on Friday and the Archbishop of Washington, Cardinal Donald Wuerl, will bless the newly named center.

The hospital will also announce the receipt of one of the largest gifts in their history.
