Google teaming up with schools to provide virtual field trips for students

- How would you like to travel the world without going anywhere? Well, now you can thanks to Google's virtual field trips.

Google is teaming up with hundreds of schools to take kids on field trips across the world.

The new program is giving students at Montgomery County Public Schools a chance to show their students places they've never seen before.

Montgomery County is the first school system in our to use the Expeditions Pioneer Program.

From the Great Wall of China to the surface of Mars, students are getting a 360-degree view of these far off places.

Many say it is a learning experience for both the teacher and the students.

“The plan is about connecting classrooms and connecting cultures and worlds,” said Sherwin Collette, chief technology officer for Montgomery County Public Schools. “More importantly, doing so as we connect that work to our literacy work across the content.”

Google is providing the kits free for the first year. After that, there will be a cost for the schools.
