Double-amputee veteran running 31 marathons in 31 days

- Running consecutive marathons is exhausting, however it’s possible. But do you think you have what it takes to run a month of marathons back to back? Double-amputee and Marine Corps veteran Rob Jones is on the verge doing exactly that -- 31 marathons in 31 days.

According to FOX 46 Charlotte, the combat engineer lost both legs when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) in Afghanistan. However, that hasn’t slowed him down one bit. After being honorably discharged in 2011, Jones began training for the Paralympics and won the bronze in rowing.

In 2013, he Biked across the country -- 5,180 miles in 181 days -- while raising $126,000 for three charities which aid wounded veterans.

He recently completed his 29th consecutive marathon in Charlotte, North Carolina. He hopes to raise $1,000,000 for wounded veteran charities, while raising awareness of the struggle of America’s veteran population.

Jones started in London, and after running marathons throughout the United States, will finish in Washington, D.C.

31 marathons in 31 days sounds like an impossible mission, but when you have the heart of a warrior, there’s nothing that can stop you.
