FOX 5 DC Cares: Mason's mom expresses importance of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

FOX 5 DC Cares is our station's campaign to highlight the amazing work of some local nonprofits. One of our biggest partners is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

FOX 5 is once again the proud media sponsor of their light the night walks. Three walks are held in our area each year. They are incredibly moving and inspirational. Hundreds of teams, thousands of people carry lanterns and actually light up the night to raise money to fight blood cancer and fund blood cancer research. The first walk is October 1, Saturday night in Reston.

One of the teams walking this year is called "Mason Strong." We've been telling you about Mason and his battle with cancer this week. His mom tells us why the leukemia and lymphoma society is so important to her family and to so many others.

The next walk is Saturday, October 8 and will be at Rockville town square. And on October 15th we will be at freedom plaza in D.C. along Pennsylvania Avenue.
