Firefighter helmet camera shows intense car fires inside California tunnel

OAKLAND, Calif. - A firsthand look at the intense car fires that erupted inside the Caldecott Tunnel in California.

A helmet camera from the Oakland Fire Department shows the eerie scene that went down during the Monday morning commute.

Fire crews were already inside the tunnel clearing debris from an earlier crash when they got reports of a second crash in the tunnel's eastbound bore.

As they raced to the crash scene, one those cars burst into flames sending a wall of smoke into the tunnel.

Crews evacuated dozens of drivers out of the tunnel as they worked to put the fire out.

Amazingly no one was hurt.
