Fire destroys Temple Hills house while owners away on vacation

Fire destroyed a house in Prince George's County while the homeowners were away on vacation.

Investigators say the fire started at a house on Ashley's Crossing Court in Temple Hills around 2 a.m. Monday morning.

The couple that lived there was away on the Eastern Shore when they got the call and raced home. Thankfully, their pets were also out of the home at the time.

At least one neighboring house was damaged when heat from the fire melted some of its siding.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. The damage estimates are around $150,000.
