Edgewater barricade suspect in custody; situation connected to Annapolis shooting, police say

The suspect in an Edgewater barricade situation that stemmed from a shooting last night in Annapolis has been taken into custody, police say.

Officers believe a 41-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were shot just before 8 p.m. Wednesday on the 1100 block of Medgar Evers Street in Annapolis.

SEveral hours after the shooting, police responded to the 700 block of Central Avenue in Edgewater to look for a person of interest.

Investigators say a person barricaded themselves inside of a home there for nearly seven hours.

Officers say the barricade situation ended peacefully just before 6 a.m. when 25-year-old Barnabas Offer, Jr. exited the home and was arrested without incident. Offer, Jr. faces two counts of attempted murder and other related charges. Some roads in the area remain closed while police investigate.

Injuries to the woman who was shot in Annapolis appear to be non-life threatening. The man's injuries, police say, are more severe. Two other people were arrested last night in the 1100 block of Madison Street during the investigation into the shooting.

FOX 5's Annie Yu reports that several people were kept out of their homes overnight during the barricade situation .
