Driver falls asleep, vehicle hits car and pushes it into bus

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) -- Newport News police say one person was injured after a driver fell asleep and triggered a three-vehicle wreck involving a Hampton Roads Transit bus.

Police tell media outlets that the bus was stopped at a bus stop when the accident occurred Sunday morning. A car driven by a 71-year-old man was hit in the rear by another car driven by a 20-year-old woman who had fallen asleep. The impact forced the first car into the rear of the bus.

The man's 70-year-old wife suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
