Donald Trump says he can win GOP nomination

In an exclusive interview with TheHill.com, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he can win the Republican nomination, gain establishment support and beat Hillary Clinton in the debates.

"I've been a closer all my life. I've won all my life. It's what I do is win. Other people don't win. I know more about winning than anybody," said Trump.

Speaking to TheHill.com Editor in Chief Bob Cusack, the candidate opened up about his desire to win Iowa, admitting it is an important victory to him. And Trump said if he wins the nomination, he can win New York, which is something a GOP candidate has not done since Ronald Reagan in 1984.

"If you win New York, it's over. And they love me in New York. It's my place. I love New York," Trump said.

And with an upcoming debate later this month hosted by FOX News, Cusack asked Trump if he expects to get along with Megyn Kelly.

"Are you guys gonna be able to get along in the next debate?" Cusack asked.

"No, I don't think we will. I don't think we'll get along," Trump said.

After the exclusive interview, Cusack told FOX 5's Ronica Cleary that he believes Trump really sees a path to victory.

"I think that Trump does see a path to the nomination," Cusack said. "He does have his eye on the general election. He thinks that he can take on Hillary Clinton in the debates and easily beat her in the debates."

And with 12 candidates still vying for the Republican nomination, most are hesitant to say they know exactly what is going to happen in this race.

"I think it's gonna be a very, very intense 2016, and in politics you never know what's gonna happen," Cusack said.

Trump will be traveling the rest of the week, making stops in Vermont, South Carolina, Iowa and Nevada.
