Dogs rescued from South Korean ‘dog meat farm' available for adoption in Hagerstown

Several dogs who were rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea are available for adoption today at the Humane Society of Washington County Hagerstown.

The dogs include an adult Terrier mix, an adult Lhasa Apso mix, and six 5-month-old Jindo mix puppies.

According to the Humane Society, they worked with the farmer and local groups in South Korea to shut down the facility, which they say held more than 200 dogs and puppies.

They say the farmer has transitioned into a more humane and profitable livelihood by expanding his medicinal herb farm.

The dogs were transported to the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.

The Humane Society has spayed, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated the dogs.
