Dedication to the neighborhood keeps Chevy Chase Supermarket open through the snowstorm

Many D.C. area businesses closed when the first flakes fell on Friday. But not the Chevy Chase Supermarket.

Some places held out until Saturday and shut their doors when the heaviest snow came down. Still, the Chevy Chase Supermarket remained open.

Now, the cleanup is underway and the Chevy Chase Supermarket is still open for business.

Brothers Kevin and Jason Kirsch say they have never closed in the history of the store. Founded by their father, the brothers say they stay open for the neighborhood.

Inside of the store Sunday morning, the aisles were full of dedicated employees who slept there overnight to make sure the store was staffed.

"The neighborhood takes care of us, we take care of them," Kevin said.
