ALEXANDRIA, Va. - A wrong-way driver was killed after he caused a three vehicle accident early Monday morning along Interstate 495 in Virginia. The accident was reported around 1:40 a.m. on the inner loop east of Exit 174 between Telegraph Road and the Eisenhower Avenue Connector.
Police say the driver of the Honda CR-V had been traveling east in the westbound lanes when it struck a Chevrolet Tahoe headed west head-op. A Dodge Caravan, also traveling west on I-495, was damaged by debris from the crash.
The driver of the Honda was killed in the accident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
