DC uses RFK stadium as snow removal dumping grounds

- Where does the snow go when the crews remove it from the streets of D.C.? To Lot 7 in the parking lot of RFK Stadium.

The operations have been going on since the snow stopped falling. Trucks are filled with snow from city streets – they dump the snow in the lot – then, bulldozers pack snow into mounds, some as tall as 15 feet.

Officials are monitoring the activity to make sure runoff from the melting snow does not pollute the nearby Anacostia River.

FOX 5’s Bob Barnard says authorities told him the goal is to remove the snow from the street instead of pushing it around. He also says that the snow being placed at the RFK lots is being taken off of D.C. only – not from the streets of surrounding counties.
