DC to hold public meetings on proposed homeless shelter plans

On Thursday, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser will hold community meetings to discuss her plan to end homelessness.

The mayor announced this week she wants to close the troubled D.C. General homeless shelter in southeast and open 8 smaller short-term family shelters across the city.

The mayor said the shelters will cost about $22 million will be modern and safe.

Here is a list of the meetings - all will be held between 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. - all will be open to the public:
