DC police fire at suspects in 2 separate incidents overnight

Police fired shots at suspects in two separate incidents overnight in the District, investigators say.

The first happened on Mississippi Avenue in the southeast around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Police say an officer fired at an armed suspect on the 700 block of Mississippi Avenue after the person pointed a gun at him. The officer was not injured and the suspect fled the scene. It is unclear if the suspect was struck.

The second incident happened around 1 a.m. Friday at Bladensburg Road and Eastern Avenue in the northeast.

D.C. police say an officer fired at a suspect who pointed a gun at the officer during a traffic stop. Investigators say the suspect fled the scene and the officer was not injured. They do not believe the suspect was struck.

Both incidents are under investigation at this time.
