Officers are wearing the devices as part of a pilot program that began in October. This is one of the first public uses of police body camera video in the District.
Police are referring to the man in the video as a person of interest.
According to the police report, a man with several passengers in his car refused an officer's orders and continued to reach toward his center console.
The video was recorded around 6:45 Wednesday morning along 22nd Street in Southeast.
The report says the officer ordered the man to stop multiple times, but he drove toward the officer, put the car in reverse, backed up, and then did it again.
At that point, the video stopped.
According to the report, the driver then intentionally struck a marked police vehicle down the road, took off and eventually headed into Prince George's County, Maryland.
The man was driving a 2004 burgundy Jaguar sedan.
Police are referring to the man as a person of interest. He is being sought in the assault of a police officer and assault with a dangerous weapon-- the vehicle.
