DC driver's licenses to make city name change after confusion

Officials in the District are changing the city's name on driver's licenses after residents reported confusion among some who think they do not live on American soil.

The ID-related issues came up after licenses changed the name from "Washington, D.C." and began using "District of Columbia."

For people renewing their license of applying for a new one, the change will take place in June. Existing licenses will be valid until they expire.
