DC beginning its annual Potholepalooza campaign to fill potholes

(AP) -- The District of Columbia is beginning its annual campaign to fill potholes.

Mayor Muriel Bowser is scheduled to officially launch the 8th annual Potholepalooza campaign Friday.

During the annual event, the city invites residents to call, go online, tweet or email officials to report potholes. The city's transportation department, which is responsible for repairing the roadways, says that it will work to repair identified potholes within 48 hours, rather than its normal 72 hour response time.

The District Department of Transportation says that it received more than 6,000 service requests for pothole repairs during the 2015 Potholepalooza and filled 27,440 potholes.
