Clipper brings freezing rain, sleet as Winter Weather Advisory issued until 9 pm

The Thursday evening commute was impacted by freezing rain, sleet and snow as another Another Alberta clipper passed through the area.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued until 9 p.m. for portions of the D.C. metro area, including Washington D.C., as well as areas north and west.

Starting this afternoon, the D.C. metro area could see freezing rain. Areas to the north and west of the city may get a rain/sleet mix. Further north – in areas of northern Maryland near the Pennsylvania line – the mix may transition into all snow.

The National Weather Service says the best chance for freezing rain will be between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Temperatures are expected to be in the lower 30s.

This storm will pass through the area quickly and should be out of the region by 8 p.m.

Another storm system may bring us a chance of snow this Saturday into Sunday.
