Capitol sledding ban not being enforced

Capitol Police are not enforcing a ban on sledding, reports FOX 5's Emily Miller. Dozens of children are celebrating the snow day at the Capitol this afternoon.

Democratic Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton tweeted, "Thank you Capitol Police" earlier Thursday.

She sent a letter to the Capitol Police Board on Wednesday requesting a waiver of the sledding ban from March 5-8, but that request was denied by authorities, who cited liability issues.

Even so, children are sledding at the Capitol this afternoon. No incidents have been reported.
