Baltimore police arrest 2 men in death of 16-year-old found dead in fire

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police have arrested two men they say are responsible for the death of a 16-year-old who was sexually assaulted and strangled before her home was set on fire.

Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts said Thursday that police have arrested 23-year-old Adonay Dixon and 20-year-old John Childs in the death of 16-year-old Arnesha Bowers. Police found Arnesha dead in her northeast Baltimore home on Sunday after responding to a fire there. Police said both suspects are members of a gang and that Bowers knew them and had been hanging out with them in the hours before the crime.

It was not clear if Dixon had an attorney. An attorney listed in online court records for Childs could not be reached.

Arnesha was a junior at Baltimore City College High School.
