WASHINGTON - Police are still investigating after two men allegedly assaulted a man and set his jacket on fire during an attempted robbery over the weekend.
Officers say the incident happened Saturday night along 14th Street and Otis Place in the northwest. The victim told police that he had been drinking when he was approached from behind by the attackers. The victim told authorities that the attackers became angry and lit his jacket on fire when he told them he didn't have any cash on him.
Investigators say they were not made aware of the crime until Sunday after someone spotted the victim with burns and called 911.
The victim is recovering and is expected to survive. Police have not released information regarding suspects or motives.
