Arlington National Cemetery bans pets, bicyclists

Pets and bicyclists will be banned from the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery beginning Wednesday, according to an online report by Stars and Stripes.

According to the article, the new pet policy will be put into place after officials state pets have "impacted the decorum" of funeral services at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

While pets will be banned under the new rules, service animals and working military dogs will continue to be allowed on the grounds.

Also on Wednesday, bicyclists will no longer be allowed to ride on cemetery grounds.

Starting in November, Arlington National Cemetery will increase its security measures and will require a government-issued photo ID for people arriving in cars and will begin to screen pedestrian visitors.
