FOX 5's Will Thomas is trying to find you memorable meals across our region. This week, he visited a restaurant in Gaithersburg that was known as a massive sports bar, but is undergoing big changes.
A chef who grew up in Gaithersburg is spearheading the effort. Largent's is only about a year old, but in the last few weeks, it began its relaunch. Executive chef Michael Herr is back in his community after running successful restaurants across the D.C. region and he has unveiled a new neighborhood restaurant concept.
What's on the menu?
Chef Herr said they serve fresh salads, grilled items and want to feature "a lot of seasonal cuisines that will embrace the neighborhood and the people and community around it."
- Baja fish tacos (napa cabbage slaw with cilantro and carrots, charred corn mayo)
- Roasted beet salad (arugula, citrus vinaigrette, pistachio and goat cheese)
- Grilled calamari (arugula pesto, roasted peanuts, pickled strawberries)
- Hush puppies
- Grilled lamb burger (tomato harissa jam, garlic mayo, cilantro yogurt and arugula)
- Chicken nachos
Appetizers range from $6 to $12. Lunch plates go for $6 to $15. Dinner runs from $15 to $22.
The main dining floor is no longer just a sports bar and focuses on casual dining on its new elevated menu. But you can still watch any sports from one of 20 flat screen TVs upstairs.
Customers say it's a high energy place with lots of people and great food.
The must have
Truffle burger (100 percent brisket layered parmesan cheese, sottocenere, crispy and pickled onions, truffle mayo, roasted portabella mushrooms, rosemary fries)
