The dart throw took "Will You Eat There" to Silver Spring for a solid American pub experience.
When we stopped by The 4 Corners Pub, the crowd was very enthusiastic. The current owners are as passionate as they come, but are relatively new to the pub business. But this place is hardly new as it has served generations of locals.
What's on the menu?
General manager Spencer Smith says they are not a traditional Irish pub, but an American pub. They have what he calls "homey food." They have burgers, sandwiches, wings and pizza.
Some menu items:
- Bacon cheeseburger (served with steak fries and a dill pickle)
- Crabcake platter (two crabcakes served hot with the vegetable of the day and homemade Old Bay chips)
- Greek salad (feta cheese, green peppers, red onions, tomatoes, sauteed garlic and shrimp on top)
For lunch or dinner, it can range from $7 to $14. The pizza ranges from $9 to $20.
The pub has a very laid back atmosphere and is kid-friendly. Many locals stop by to see many of their neighbors and friends.
The pub is also a popular destination for sports fans as there is plenty of televisions and room at the bar.
The must have
Malachi Griffith, also known as "Griffi" says the pizza is the best because he makes it and he has been doing so here for more than four decades and he oversees the pizza making to this day. The beloved 89-year-old is like the pub's unofficial mascot.
