This week, FOX 5's Will Thomas headed to Silver Spring and The Society Restaurant and Lounge.
Owner Jason Miskiri is a local guy who grew up in Takoma Park and played basketball for George Mason. Now, he's making slam dunks in the kitchen. The restaurant serves up American fare with Caribbean accents.
What's on the menu?
- Chicken and waffles
- Caribbean salmon with a pineapple glaze
- Browned red snapper with rice and peas, plantains and sauteed spinach
- Curry crab legs
Appetizers range from $8 to $14, while entrees go for $17 to $28. During happy hour, drinks are $8. During dinner they're $11 to $14.
Patrons say it's always lively, including musical performances.
Jerk chicken! It's the most popular dish. They use a dry paste and a wet paste, which really sticks to the chicken. They're marinated for 24 hours, then topped off with a secret glaze.
